Eddie McCoven is an independent professional with more than a decade of experience in the fields of media and public relations, including more than five years experience in broadcast news.
Eddie began his broadcasting career at the Edward R. Murrow award-winning KPLU-FM (now KNKX-FM) in the Seattle market as a production assistant and development associate.
After relocating back to his native Southern California, Eddie worked in local television as a writer and segment producer at independent news channel KUSI-TV in San Diego. While at KUSI, Eddie was responsible for writing breaking and developing news stories, producing packages and field reports for anchors and reporters, and producing weekend evening newscasts.
After his time in local television, Eddie went on to work in national television news at One America News Network. There he was promoted from writer to website and social media editor to weekend news producer. Eddie also went on to produce and report for The Daily Ledger, the network’s flagship political talk show hosted by Emmy Award-winning newsman Graham Ledger. Eddie continued working as a field reporter, winning numerous San Diego Press Club awards.
Eddie has also assisted non-profits, schools and churches with a variety of media and public relations projects including web design, managing Social Media, photography, video editing, branding, consulting and much more.
Eddie began his career in media and public relations at Black Cherry Music Group as a public relations manager and promoter during the beginnings of the indie music explosion of the early 2000’s.
Eddie is a graduate of Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication, cum laude, with additional studies in Business, Journalism, Marketing, Music and Religion. He is a member of the university’s Pinnacle Society.
Eddie has also studied graduate level coursework in Accounting, Economics and Journalism at Arizona State University. He also holds an Associate’s in Business Management from San Diego Miramar College, an Associate’s in Business Information Systems from San Diego Mesa College, and a Certificate in Records Management from San Diego City College. He is a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
When he is not working in broadcast news or consulting, Eddie enjoys scenic photography, playing piano and guitar and enjoying beer and whisky over a game of pool or a good film.
